Hello, I’m Nicola.

I’m a German job market expert, career mentor, and passionate about discovering what is unique about people’s strengths.

I had no idea about a career when I first started to work. It was a great job, but I was a naive country bumpkin from a working-class family.

What should I do now? I didn’t have the slightest idea.

In my family, I was the only one with a high school diploma, and I had to decide for myself. I’m afraid I was really a complete chicken as far as career planning was concerned.

Totally disoriented, I escaped to the US for a year and worked as a nanny (and went to college). That was amazing, but eventually, I had to come back home again.

Still, I had no idea what talents I had. Because I couldn’t think of anything better to do and missed all the other application deadlines, I was left with the business administration in my home town Padeborn. It wasn’t a hit, but my gateway into the job world.

After graduation, I hit the jackpot: I was offered the management of a project in HR consulting and placement. What a revelation for me, chicken in terms of career! 🎇 Now, suddenly, it was me pulling the strings for other applicants! 🎊

In the next years, I advised companies on how to find and train junior staff. The bosses and owners shared so many business secrets with me that they would never say in public! And I used all that experience later to help coach job seekers so they could excel in interviews.

Over the years I have gained so much experience in job coaching, guiding, and mentoring all kinds of professionals, with counseling concepts, goal achievement, self-marketing, …. and sales and marketing. And I was always very close to the job market, talking to companies and facilitating interviews. I have never counted how many people I have worked with…. but there have been thousands in the more than 20 years (not telling you a lie!).

My friends got guidance from their academic parents. They grew up with all the secret career tips that only the senior know, along with the money, the good contacts, and mentoring. And me, the working-class child, learned the insights about how to get into a job with ease and elegance once I was an HR consultant.

I noticed, that not only I but many Germans either didn’t know how to get out of being stuck in an I-don’t know-what-best-to-do situation.

Suddenly I realized, that it was me pulling the strings for others🚀, helping them getting out out of a dead-end back on the Autobahn into a job.

HR – expert, trainer, consultant, coach or even creating consultancy concepts? Building up an association for companies? Sales and distribution? Grant consulting? Finding good arguments and putting them in my clients‘ mouths? Oh, I’ve done so much, but the real inner joy I actually get from removing some of the obstacles for others. To inspire. You know, a little help is so important when you’re just stuck yourself. Who knows that better than my former career clueless?

This mission is rooted in my belief that a successful career does not happen by default simply by having achieved a degree. In our complex and culturally shaped job market consulting, mentoring and coaching has the power to reveal unforeseen potential at crossroads, facilitate shortcuts and inspire confidence in how to conduct. At MyJobGermany, this mission and values guide the work I do every day. By acting in this spirit, I serve people entering their career in Germany or in need of professional change and society alike and contribute to the strength of a vibrant, open-minded, and diverse culture in Germany.

Today I guide candidates who were not born and raised in Germany to teach them how to align to the business culture. To make a career that pays off.
